We often think our lives are too ordinary to matter until we hear someone else’s story echo our own. Shahen writes about family, resilience, purpose, and legacy—not because his experiences are unique, but because the questions beneath them belong to all of us.
The Hawk and Never Settled explore different aspects of the human experience. One looks outward to family history, resilience, and the legacy of those who came before us. The other looks inward, examining fulfillment, purpose, and the questions many of us quietly carry.

Every life leaves behind stories worth telling. Mine just happened to find their way onto the page.
Writing has become my way of making sense of the people I’ve loved, the hardships I’ve faced, and the lessons I’m still learning. Every memoir, essay, and reflection is an invitation to slow down, ask better questions, and discover meaning in the moments that often pass us by.
The journey is still unfolding, and I’m grateful to share it with you.
